Flu and cold season

Flu and cold season

It has already started, people around me are coughing, sneezing and have sore throats and the rest of the inconveniences that come with the cold weather, I rarely get sick, and people ask what do you do to avoid getting sick in the cold and flu season, avoid people ? absolutely not.

I take some basic principles in to practice, number one any kind of sickness is usually do to a low immune system and lack of rest , many people are stressed this time of the year , its bad enough in  this economic crunch, it  has affected many of us, but now the holiday season is upon us you are probably stressing over that Holiday dinner you have to serve or gifts for the kids, the list goes on and on.

Remember you need to look out for yourself and your health so first get plenty of rest, that’s an important factor in keeping your immune system up, second I try to get plenty of vitamin C by eating natural foods rich in vitamin C.  Foods with high vitamin C content include Oranges, red bell peppers, broccoli and papaya. if the these items are hard to find you can always take a vitamin C supplement.

Stress levels contribute highly to a bad immune system , so I know its beating a dead horse but exercise, even if it is just a 45 minute walk , now you say its snowing outside, ok a stationary bike will do, you will be amazed at how much better you will feel. Every once in a while I get edgy and yes there are herbal remedies that can calm your nerves and help you sleep better, we all need a little help sometimes with stress and anxiety I personally have used this product called purecalm and it works wonders.

I am not saying that you will never get sick but you can sure eliminate sickness  or at least keep the severeness of the cold or flu down  to a minimum following a few simple guidelines in your daily life , I sure know it helps me in the long run.
