A month or so ago I went on a bit of a diet not so much to lose some weight but I just kind of felt run down. I figured since I had not been eating right that had a lot to do with the way I felt. Many times diet is a huge factor in how we feel throughout the day. I normally do not eat a big breakfast , just enough to get my metabolism going.

A mild lunch for me is a tuna sandwich or medium sized chicken salad or bowl of soup, in any case dinner is the big one for me. I know everyone says that dinner should be the lighter meal of the day , but I enjoy it more because it gives me time to enjoy my meal , because I am not in a hurry.

Dinner always involves a green salad, we usually use some kind of so called low fat bottled brand dressing but the other day my wife made some apple cider vinegar and olive oil dressing for our salad. The next day the same and after about a week for whatever reason I started feeling really good.

Was it the Vinegar or the olive oil? Well its actually both but in this post I will just discuss the amazing benefits of vinegar. I did some research and found out that vinegar has several healthy properties and medicinal uses including.

  • Vinegar in small amounts increases the feeling of fullness so that we eat less at meals.
  • Vinegar contains acetic acid “which is the main component in vinegar” which in several studies has shown that it lowers significantly the amount of serum cholesterol in our body.
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar in food or before a meal have shown to decrease the glycemic index in people with diabetes.
  • Although vinegar tastes highly acididc it is used to treat heartburn and lowers acidity levels in our bodies.

So here I thought something so simple as vinegar had nothing to do with improving our over all health, but I really found out it has huge petential in our daily diets. So next time you want to change your diet around, try a little vinegar , you will be amazed.
