But also I am practicing what I preach, herbal supplements and remedies are your friend because they have the potential of keeping us healthy and boosting our immune system. Herbal supplements to treat BPH

Posted by admin on April 16th, 2009

What is BPH?

BPH is the simple term for prostate enlargement, and of course many men as they get older dread prostate enlargement, when we are younger we hear older men grieving about old age and prostate problems , having issues with urinating and of course even the fear of prostate cancer, but did you know that recent research supports the use of herbal products in treating BPH or prostate enlargement.

Research has shown that saw palmetto is strongly supported in Europe as a primary treatment herb for men with BPH. In the six month study saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil and nettle root extract where used. The study found that those men taking the herbal supplement showed significant prostate improvement, but the improvements where not statistically significant which may have been due to the small number of subjects in the study, but the study did show positive effects from the saw palmetto, which can possibly shed some light on how the saw palmetto works. Because what researchers did notice is a reduction in the epithelium lining of the prostate contracting, while the total size of the prostate did not change the actual epithelium lining did.

The conclusion of the study showed that saw palmetto resulted in overall reduction or contraction of the prostatic epithelial tissues.

So once again another plus for herbal supplements and remedies for curing yet one more common ailment, which otherwise men would possibly have to resort to the use of more invasive measures such as surgical reduction.

Now this study was conducted in Europe and it is well known that Europeans much prefer the use of herbal or alternative treatment, in Italy herbal remedies are used 5 times as often as synthetic drugs are, and and in Germany, more than 90 percent of men and their Doctors choose herbal remedies over synthetic drugs for treating BPH better known as enlargement of the prostate.

Week 10

Posted by admin on April 13th, 2009

Week 10 of my personal diet and with the long Easter weekend I found myself kind of going off the deep end with some of the foods that I consumed, more carbohydrates than I should have and more of everything. So today Monday morning I will tone it down a bit.

I found an iteresting article this morning on MSNBC on stress and dieting which I found very interesting and of course it goes right after my principal that dieting constantly is bad , as I mention here in my blog its called my personal weight loss and that’s what it is weight loss, we lose weight by eating less and eating the right foods, so if you want to call it a diet you may, I would like to rather think it is just more about eating smart and givimg our bodies what we need and that is good food and exercise if you put yourself in a position denying yourself constantly the things you love it only makes things worse.

Tomorrow I will jump on the scale and see how things are going my clothes are fitting much better now so hopefully the results will be positive.

Herbal remedies for blood pressure

Posted by admin on April 12th, 2009

Recently writing about the 5 things that kill or the top 5 causes of death in the U.S. Actually Canada is on par as far as statistics go, but the number one killer is heart disease which no matter how you look at things, heart disease whether it be congestive heart failure, potential stroke, or anything else that has to do with arteries and the heart pumping blood trough our bodies is scary, we have all seen it, guys or gals in their forties and fifties already experiencing hear attacks, it is almost  surreal when it happens, we all think of it happening to us whether we are  overweight, or maybe we are confident it will not happen to us because we eat healthy and exercise a bit, there are still ways to help prevent these possible life altering situations after all who wants to have coronary problems. Have high blood pressure? why not go herbal

Posted by admin on April 11th, 2009

Recently I wrote an article on 5 things that kill and topping the chart was high blood pressure, lack of exercise, and excessive alcohol consumption can cause high blood pressure, and of course the first thing that happens is we go see a doctor and later we walk out with a bag full of prescription medications. Although these meds will help, the unfortunate thing about these medications is that they only treat the symptoms and  not the cause. Read the rest of this entry »

5 things that kill

Posted by admin on April 11th, 2009

Recently I was viewing different surveys published about primary causes of death in both developed and undeveloped countries, it seems that most developed countries seem the be suffering from similar statistics, mainly because of the basic ills of modern society, many are attributed to lack of exercise, stress poor diet smoking and other evils.
