Do Native remedies and alternative medicines really work?

Just recently we where having some issues with our youngest daughter in school, mostly nervousness and anxiety, we have allways treated 99.9 %  percent of our ailments with herbal tonics and remedies, but for some reason we seem to forget the amazing benefits that herbal products tend to have on treating even severe ailments.
