			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So I mentioned my trip to Mexico while the so called swine flu epidemic raged, and well Mexico is great and anyone who tells you different. I will keep my opinions to myself in any case back to my weight loss, I actually lost like 5 pounds but it was not dieting, I had a home project painting the house and man was the house in bad shape so scraping down all the bad paint was rough, but mind you good exercise, so I found out that painting or any other intense household chore can help you drop the pounds, but I am done painting so  today was my first day back to formal exercise and getting back to the program of exercise , so I started out with 15 crunches 15 minutes on a stationary bike and so moderate weight lifting.</p>
<p>This mornings breakfast is coffee and oatmeal not very exciting but I plan on going to the beach this summer and want to shed of some serious weight so I can look half way decent in a pair of swim trunks.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A lot has happened over the last couple of months I have been&#8230;. well not dieting. I came to Mexico to visit my  relatives for a few weeks during the swine flu epidemic, and man the only damaging effect I could see during the whole ordeal was the businesses closing, especially the tourism industry, the funny thing is that my relatives know tons of people trough church, social events and have yet to know of someone infected by the H1N1 virus its really weird. I  managed to fly to Mexico during the outbreak and fly back to the states with no infection, personally I still think the media has overdone things as they tend to do with everything else.</p>
<p>In any case  I just got back and yes I  have managed to drop a couple of pounds, but not doing what you would think.</p>
<p>But I will post on that in the next day or so.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Week 10 of my personal diet and with the long Easter weekend I found myself kind of going off the deep end with some of the foods that I consumed, more carbohydrates than I should have and more of everything. So today Monday morning I will tone it down a bit.</p>
<p>I found an iteresting article this morning on MSNBC on <a title="Beating stress and fighting fat" href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29777933/" target="_blank">stress and dieting</a> which I found very interesting and of course it goes right after my principal that dieting constantly is bad , as I mention here in my blog its called <strong>my personal weight loss</strong> and that&#8217;s what it is weight loss, we lose weight by eating less and eating the right foods, so if you want to call it a diet you may, I would like to rather think it is just more about eating smart and givimg our bodies what we need and that is good food and exercise if you put yourself in a position denying yourself constantly the things you love it only makes things worse.</p>
<p>Tomorrow I will jump on the scale and see how things are going my clothes are fitting much better now so hopefully the results will be positive.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So week nine and things are moving right along, 2 more pounds lost but my clothes are fitting better, plus I have more resistance when exercising to the point I am not almost fainting when doing my daily work out, I have added a few carbs to my diet, mostly because I felt the need of a little bit more energy boost, especially working out twice a day.<span id="more-593"></span></p>
<p>Right now my diet is still pretty consistent,  in the morning a glass of juice, coffee, maybe a small bowl of oatmeal, mid day a handful of almonds or a little bit of tuna packed in water.</p>
<p>In the evening chicken or fish with a green salad and either some lentels, black beans, it can be kind of monotonous so you have to continually switch things around, if not it can be difficult maintaining consistency in your diet, if things are really tough, have a treat something you like but just enough to keep the craving down.</p>
<p>I have put a lot of enphasis on exercise recently, picking up the pace, right now I am jogging in the morning 3 miles coming home and lifting weights, using light weights and lots of repetitions, in the afternoon I am doing <a href="http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/abdominalcorestrength1/qt/basic_crunch.htm">crunches</a> I started doing 100 and have worked my way up to 500 my goal is to do 1000 every day, I know there is no such thing as spot reduction but believe me my abs have been sore every day since I started so as long as my muscles are feeling it, I should gradually see results both firming and weight loss.</p>
<p>The whole key here is consistency one you find your pattern, run with it vary your workout vary your food, it really does get easier, some days are hard, some days are easy.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So I had not been posting as often as usual int the past few weeks as time would not permit, but just wanted to say that as I mentoned yesterday as time goes by things get better , yesterday I decided to turn up the heat and I began doing 200 crunches yesterday afternoon, this morning another 200 hundred I think I will have to break down and take a picture and post it, now that I am getting confident of my progress, I must say that those <a title="Protein drink supplements" href="http://www.e-natureguide.com/blogs/?page_id=546">protein drinks I am taking</a> must be working cause my energy level is picking up. Plus I am still doing my daily light weight lots of reps routine. So I am going to pick up the pace over the weekned now that I hace some time and try to work in 2 work outs in a day , morning and afternoon. we shall see the progress. so stay tuned.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So week eight has been interesting , <strong>there has to be something said about persistence</strong> in anything you do whether it be dieting, work or exercise the more you put in to it the more you get out of it, so perseverance is half the battle, I have been eating some carbs lately and have not been as strict on my diet but I am starting to see not so much huge amounts of weight loss but I am getting comments from people of me looking thinner, plus my clothes are definitely fitting much looser.<span id="more-571"></span></p>
<p><strong>Exercise</strong></p>
<p><strong>I must say this is all to do with  exercise</strong>, don&#8217;t get me wrong I am not eating fast food , no McDonalds or burger king just good quality food, fish chicken, lean beef. But now back to exercise, for about 2 months now II have been walking one day jogging the next, and since my business has slowed down a bit it gives me some free time in the afternoon, so I have been lifting weights, not heavy weights, just some light weights with lots of repetitions so for example I will take a barbell with 10 pounds and do 4 sets of 50 repetitions each or till I just can lift the bar, I have been doing this working different parts of the body and the results seem to be good, I am also going to <strong>start doing crunches</strong> which I have not done yet, but I am going to start with 100 a day and over a period of time my goal is to work my way up to 1000 a day.</p>
<p>One thing I do know it is helping tone my body considerably and I should hopefully start to see a snowball effect with dropping some more pounds, its getting a bit warmer now, so for breakfast I have been having a <a title="Whey protein drink" href="http://www.e-natureguide.com/blogs/?page_id=546">protein drink</a> with a banana or some sliced papaya, mixing it with soy milk, at mid day I am having another protein drink no fruit just soy milk or lowfat milk . and then for dinner sticking with broiled chicken or fish with a green salad.</p>
<p>So the key here is to keep on going and dont give up, it feels really good when you begin to get compliments of how well you look, plus feeling better about yourself tends to give us better outlook on life a positive attitude plus you feel great, you should try it, the first month exercising and cutting out certain foods was really difficult, but after a while the benefits are totally worth it.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So my weight loss success continues, well sort of,  after coming back form the beach I have gotten kind of lazy the time change or daylight savings time does it to me, plus once the weather gets a bit warmer it makes me lazy so for 2 days now I have only walked one of them, This morning I decided to get up and hit the weights, in case I have not mentioned my age before I just turned 43 and used to be an avid weight lifter and loved to go to the gym, but with family and all the activities in a day like work getting the kids to school it can be rough trying to stay in shape, unless you have the money for a personal trainer.<span id="more-542"></span></p>
<p>In seven weeks I have lost a total of  7 pounds which is not bad, a pound a week in fact it was not so embarrassing taking my shirt off although I still am carrying around a bit of a stomach its definitely less than what I had.</p>
<p>So back to my routine, this week I decided to start a routine weight training regimen, allthough I like to  walk or jog in the morning I amd not going to put pressure on myself, if I cant get up early enough I am going to do it in the evening when I get home. I am not going to stress on heavy weights just light weights with 25 to 50 repetitions and 4 or 5 sets using no more than 10 maybe 15 pounds I am going to try this for about 2 weeks and see what kind of results I get, one of the benefits of ligth weights is at least days when my energy levels are low I will still look forward to getting some muscle tone, plus I am switching hings around totally changing what my body is used to doing.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have not kept up with my progress here because week six I took the family on vacation for a week to the beach, we had a great time, but well&#8230; the diet went out the window, but one thing I made myself and the family do was stay active so we took plenty of sunscreen and spent a better part of the day in the water playing volleyball anything we could do to keep the kids entertained. We did take along with us our vitamin supplements and continued taking them, as mentioned in one of my previous post my wife has been taking <a href="http://www.e-natureguide.com/blogs/?page_id=423">Hoodia</a> because she has been having some positive progress with it because it has helped curb her appetite.<span id="more-533"></span></p>
<p>The hardest part of coming back from a few days at the beach was getting back in to the grind of exercising, so on the first day i was huffing and puffing but after a couple of days that went away.</p>
<p>Eating out while away is fairly easy especially since we went to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico there are tons of mom and pop seafood places all packed with fresh fish so I stuck to broiled fish filet&#8217;s and what they call ceviche <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/Mexican-Ceviche-8899">heres a good recipe for ceviche</a> which is fresh fish cured with lemon cilantro and other spices.</p>
<p>So today I started week seven with breakfast being a poached egg on whole grain toast tomorrow I weigh myself again to see my slow progress, but remeber folks its not so much how fast you take the weight off its being consistent.<br />

<p>I have been maintaining my diet with still no starches but since I have been exercising more I have been hungrier in the morning, so some days I have been sticking to a bowl of fruit or oatmeal or Special k cereal, but one day I week I have been having a scrambled egg or poached egg on toast here is a recipe for <a title="Low fat scrambled eggs" href="http://www.recipezaar.com/Guilt-Free-Scrambled-Eggs-232611">low fat scrambled eggs</a> I came across recently the only difference is I cooked mine in a skillet I am not big on cooking things in a Microwave mainly because I think that <a title="Microwave ovens are bad for our health" href="http://www.health-science.com/microwave_hazards.html">microwave ovens are bad for our health.<span id="more-528"></span></a></p>
<p>Now as far as eggs go I am eating the real thing none of those processed imitation things remember folks natural is better no matter what it is.</p>
<p>My lunch has consisted of fruit mid day or a tuna sandwich or some crackers and some natural almonds or pecans, just enough to kill the hunger.</p>
<p><strong>Dinner</strong> I am still sticking to either broiled or barbecued chicken with a salad or a piece of broiled fish but I have been eating beef once a week mostly on Saturday or Sunday that&#8217;s my treat day.</p>

<p>After three weeks I have definitely nailed down my menu, and this last weekend I did splurge with some  great Arrachera beef  on the barbecue with some flour tortillas, but things seem to be getting easier and my body has adapted more, when I first started eating chicken I would eat parts of the skin, which is my favourite <img src='http://www.e-natureguide.com/blogs/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  Now I completely take the skin off, salads taste great with just a little olive oil and <a title="Benefits of Vinegar" href="http://www.e-natureguide.com/blogs/?p=32">apple cider Vinegar</a> and although I have eliminated breads this last week with my salad I have added a bread stick or whole wheat cracker to change things up.<span id="more-518"></span></p>
<p>The mornings are now very lean eating just a banana a cup of skim milk or soy milk and another piece of fruit, other mornings I make a shake mixing the fruit with a cup of soy or skim milk.</p>
<p>Lunch has been mostly fruit and a little bit of granola, and although they say Breakfast and lunch should be the bigger meals I still enjoy a bigger dinner, mainly because I can actually sit down and take my time and enjoy what I am eating.</p>
<p>Exercise yes exercise is getting easier I feel like I have more energy even days when I have had less sleep in fact this morning was one of my best days yet, running was very easy so I was able to pick up the pace I keep telling myself that exercise is just as much a necessity as the food that we put in to our bodies even though some mornings you just do not want to get out of bed.</p>
<p>I will share my apple cider vinegar recipe, its just way to easy to make and taste great</p>

<li>4 tablespoons apple cider</li>
<li>4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil</li>
<li>a dash of sea salt and fresh ground pepper</li>
