The modern fast-paced world leaves many people sick with their bodies becoming host to a variety of illnesses. Stress, anxiety, rush and the loads of responsibilities from different quarters of our lives not only leave us exhausted but we become both physically and mentally tired and depressed. It is also a fact that sometimes ignorance is also behind making our immune system weak, as we do not know many of the simple ways in which we can help our immune system remain healthy. Here are some simple tips, which can be followed by anyone, who wants to switch to a healthy lifestyle:
Take a re-look at your kitchen and the contents of your refrigerator. Immediately stop spending any money on junk food. In stead, fill up your fridge with healthy foods which could also be good as snacks. * Stop gorging like a beast at every meal. Instead eat several small meals as this keeps your blood sugar levels at a steady level and you would find yourself becoming more energetic. This habit also helps in fat burning. Make sure that the small portions, which you have throughout the day, are filled with lean protein, complex carbohydrates and the right kind of fat. * Avoid all fried foods including chicken, fish or potatoes. These foods are usually fried using hydrogenated vegetable oil, medically known as trans fatty acids. All fried foods have a negative impact both short and long term on your body weight and overall state of health. * Make a habit of reading the labels on packaged food. Not only should you read it, you must comprehend what is mentioned, in terms of nutritive and calorific value. A lot depends on the quality of food, which you buy and eat. You could do some research on the Internet and find out more about the additives, preservatives used in the ingredients of packaged food. * Avoid eating foods that contain simple sugars. White and refined flour is one of the foods to be avoided. Foods like bread, bagels and pastas are made of this ingredient that burns off quickly leaving you tired and lethargic. Instead switch to foods made with whole grains like breads and pastas made with whole grain wheat. This would also supply your body with requisite amount of fiber. * If you are dining out, keep your health in mind and order for sauces, boiled vegetables and salads as side dish. This would limit your intake you sugars and fats. The best option is to order for large bowl of salads. Avoid or go slow on the dessert. Say no to aerated drinks during or before the meal. * If you are fond of alcohol, remember, they are high on calories and is a great impediment to good health and fat burning. It is best to go low to moderate on your alcohol consumption. * While everyone says workouts are compulsory for maintaining good health, it is not always possible to go to the gym or work out outdoors. Today there are various indoor exercising equipment available which allow you to do simple cardio work outs at home. If you feel that you are ovrworked and stressed and are not getting proper nutrients with normal nutrition, consider herbal or vitamin supplements when your diet is poor. |
