For example say, Paracetamol is a drug that helps to bring down the body temperature in fever. Whereas the herbal supplement is not classified as drug but is a dietary supplements.

Moreover, dietary supplements may either contain minerals, vitamins, herbals or amino acids. They are not taken as a sole as an alternate to any medicine or food. They key difference is that they do not have approved therapeutic claims contrasting to drugs. Of course people, who have tried herbal supplements, have found some improvement in their health. Certain things are to be considered before taking any herbal supplements.
