Kidney Stone? Home Remedies for Quick Comfort Print E-mail

One of the first symptoms of a possible kidney stone is a feeling of excruciating pain in the kidney area. The pain can sometimes be so severe that the sufferer faints in its impact. But what is a kidney stone? It is a hard crystal mass which obstructs the urinary tract and hampers the normal flow of urine. Kidney stone is a painful condition which can also affect the back and lower abdomen region of the body.


Though a consultation with a Urologist is highly recommended as well as consumption of various types of prescription drugs, there are a lot of home remedies available for relief from symptoms associated with kidney stones. Here are some suggestions for relief from kidney stone which can be done at home:

 -Kidney Beans

 These are called by this name because of their shape, which are just like kidneys. These beans can be of great help with kidney stones. All you have to do is to take out the beans from the pods and then slice down the pods. Then soak 60 grams of the pods in 4 liters of hot water. you need to boil this mixture for 6 hours. Then strain the liquid and let it cool down. After it has cooled down for about 8 hours, strain it again. Drink one glass of this mixture every two hours for the next couple of days.

 -  Apple


The saying that an apple a day keeps the doctors at bay, is very true for this condition. You could have the apple without adding any sugar or sweetener regularly for keeping your kidney stone condition under control.

 - Celery


This leafy vegetable is known to provide relief to patients suffering from kidney stones. Make celery a part of your daily diet.

 -  Watermelon


Even the doctors confirm that patients who suffer from kidney stones must drink lots of water to keep their urinary tract flushed out on a regular basis. Watermelon is a fruit which contains a high level of water. it is also rich in potassium which is good for conditions associated with kidney stones.

 - Basil


One teaspoon of basil juice mixed with honey and taken everyday for at least 6 months has shown very positive results to patients suffering from kidney stone. If taken regularly, basil is known to drive out the stone through the urinary tract, bringing long lasting relief for the patient.

 -  Grapes

 

Rich in potassium and containing adequate amount of water inside, grapes are not just good for making wine. It has low albumin and sodium chloride content and is a known home remedy for patients with kidney stone problems.

Over and above these home remedies, there are some important dietary changes which also help in kidney stones. For instance, take a diet low in proteins and high in water content. Taking vitamin B6 is also known to be beneficial for kidney stones. There are some fish which are to be avoided along with red meat.
